Misc.

Things I was thinking about while printing up my "Free Scooter" T-shirts...

Marvel Comics, in a not-so-subtle metaphor for today's USA, killed off Captain America. The hero who battled the Nazi's and even Watergate era corruption was killed as he headed to court to testify against diminshed civil liberties. Let's hope that, like many popular comic characters that have preceded him into death, Captain America and our civil liberties will soon be reborn.

I'm okay with the right to bear arms, but do NJ residents really have to fight the proposed ban on .50 caliber rifles? Oh, wait, I guess there are times when I just have to nail an elk from 1.5 miles away. My mistake.

The big boys of the credit card industry were grilled on Capitol Hill today for charging excessive fees and penalties. Whatever happened to people taking personal responsibilty for mistakes such as too much debt? Just because lenders will give you that money doesn't mean you have to use it. How about not spending beyond your means.

Even though I think it's a stretch, I'm rooting for the proposed sitcom based on the Geico Cavemen. Bravo to the writers that can make that funny week after week.

And as far Scooter Libby-I don't really think he should go free, but I think he's a bigger fall guy than Lee Majors. Darth Cheney escapes another one.

"...a bigger fall guy than Lee Majors." Bravo. Thanks for putting that theme song in my head... "cause I'm the unknown stuntman..."

what does this have to do with Cheney? Armitage is the guy that leaked Plame's name -- this was public knowledge before the special prosecutor's work began. the reason for the investigation was to find the leak -- done before they started.

you all know I'm no blind-defender of this administration, but I don't understand why this is supposed to reflect badly on Cheney. he creeps me out too, but that doesn't make him guilty of whatever his political enemies conjure up.

I shouldn't have said Cheney "escapes" because he wouldn't have been on trial with Libby because Libby was prosecuted on the narrow issue of lying to the grand jury. And obviously it has been acknowledged that Armitage was the first to release Plame's identity. But there is little doubt, through Libby's own testimony I believe, that Cheney's shadow loomed over the broader issue of discrediting Joe Wilson. I didn't mean Cheney should have been prosecuted as a co-conspirator, but we can't ignore that the administration appears to have gone after Wilson and Plame because they didn't like the answers he brought back from Niger.

Scooter will serve his time, become a hero for the right, and get his own talk show ala Ollie NOrth.
Capt America was boring anyway, regardless of his sybolism.
Let the people of NJ have whatever firepower they want. More guns in Jersey=more people from Jersey dead. Is that all that bad?
The credit card companies are vultures who take advantage of the weak-minded.
The Cavemen are pure GENIUS...why ruin it?
Darth...isn't Cheney one of the evilest looking white men on earth?

Diminished Civil Liberties...let us chew on that one for awhile...you mean like the ILLEGAL aliens who are getting time in A COURT OF LAW to plead their case, or the fact that law enforcement can't profile despite the fact that as far as I know no Norwegian children or Black Southern Grandmas have committed any acts of terror lately...

If anything we have escaladed the rate at which Americans are gathering "Rights" that were never, ever enumerated in the Constituiton. At this rate no one will be responsibile for anything anymore.

Does anyone read history.....where are the ration books, the government board that censors movies, the voting regulations so that only the right kind of people can vote, the internment camps...out the window where they belong.

At this time and place we belong to the Nation that is simultaneously the most free and the most whiny.. Very frustrating.
